Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could enable the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
